How to Choose the Right Chewable
With so many options in the chewables range, how do you find the right one? Below are some considerations to assist you in choosing the right chewable.
How hard do they chew?
For individuals who are prone to chewing more, we recommend thicker chews in our range without small parts. While we try to stock high quality chews, some designs such as the “mini figures” lose their integrity around the small features such as the head. We would recommend enclosed designs such as the teardrop, Y shaped chew, Llama, T Tube or Tube for firmer chewers.
For less liberal chewers, some of the thinner designs could be selected such as a donut, feather or unicorn.
What do they usually chew/suck?
Shirt collar / hair / fingers - necklace or hand held chew
Shirt sleeve - bracelet or hand held chew
Pencil - pencil toppers
Where do they chew? (Front teeth, back teeth?)
For individuals who tend to chew with their front teeth, all chewables are suitable.
For individuals who chew with back teeth, or are prone to grinding teeth, we recommend chews that are longer to reach the back molars. Examples include the Tube, T Tube, Rainbow Block, Fire Truck or Y shaped Chew.
Hand held chew, bracelet or necklace
We have necklaces, bracelets and hand held chews in our range. Necklaces and bracelets mean they can be physically attached and tucked away under the short collar or sleeve if the user wants to be discreet about the chew when they are not wearing them, or keep them out as an accessory when not in use. Hand held means that can be put away in a pocket, desk etc when not in use.
Personal preference for the chewable design
Ultimately, the design of the chewable needs to appeal to your little one so they are willing to use the tool. When possible, let the user be part of the decision making process.
